Does Science Support This Self-care Ritual?

Nov 24,2020 | Yvette Rose

When all else fails I seek healing.

A really good friend recommended I see her healer. At this point, I was desperate and needed a solution, so I made an appointment. We spent a few hours together. She did psychic work on me, hands-on healing and she used some machine on me to stir up what she called “toxic energy” and get it moving. That’s when she ended by saying,

Take a bath using Epsom salt, apple cider vinegar and baking soda. This will help remove the negative energy you have sticking to you.

Ok? I was open to it and I did it. I believe that sometimes things work, even if they don’t really. It’s like the placebo effect. Because I truly believe that this ritual will get rid of toxic energy, it will. But what does science say about using Epsom salt baths?

Epsom Salt Baths For Detoxing

The benefits from the heated water heats up our capillaries at skin level which helps blood-flow and helps to relieve pain. Adding Epsom salts, helps you to feel extra relaxed because the water feels silkier. I like to add about 1-2 cups in my bath and soak for 20-minutes, massaging the water all over my body.

Epsom salt is magnesium and sulfate. Research has shown the positive effects of magnesium for our health. These studies have shown magnesium helps blood get healthier, relieves joint inflammation and helps heal muscle aches, as well as help to relax the body and mind. The minerals in Epsom salt help to remove toxins from the body and helps bring the body back to a balanced state.

So when you think about negative energy, it’s toxic. Toxic people, toxic habits, toxicity. Creating a ritual to clear away toxins, detoxing, is needed if you are feeling weighted down, tired and unmotivated.

I continue to tell my clients to use epsom salt baths as an addition to their self-care, detox ritual. I love using Mary’s CBD Beauty Epsom bath.

Use Epsom salt baths to detoxify by oral ingestion: 10 to 30 grams for adults according to Healthline*. I have done this before and it definitely helped with bowel movements. And that is exactly what you want when you are detoxing.
